Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer

Rider University invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the inaugural position of Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO).

Rider University is a vibrant, student-centered community of learners and scholars regionally recognized as a top-tier institution. With a beautiful suburban campus located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey (conveniently between New York City and Philadelphia), Rider is an independent, residential university with undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students from around the country and around the world. Rider's total student body now consists of about 40% of students who are underrepresented. This is in addition to the representation of other diverse identities, including 27% first-generation, 35% low-income, 16% with disabilities, a diverse representation of religious affiliations and a significant presence of students who identify as LGBTQ+, among other identities. 

This new senior University officer will have the opportunity to inform priorities and directions at a time when the University is moving forward ambitiously and supported by a President and campus community deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Reporting directly to President Gregory Dell’Omo, this leader will serve as a key strategic advisor to the president and as a vital member of the University Cabinet. 

Rider University Inclusive Excellence Plan

Among other exciting campus efforts aligned with the Strategic Plan, Our Path Forward, Rider launched the with full campus leadership endorsement in the fall of 2019, underscoring Rider’s values of diversity, equity and inclusion and outlining comprehensive strategic commitments to advance Rider as an inclusive community. The Plan is a product of the year-long work of the President’s Council on Inclusion, a group of committed faculty, staff and students who facilitated a comprehensive process engaging more than 100 faculty, staff, student, and alumni members of the University community.

The successful candidate will: 

  • hold a Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D, or other terminal degree.
  • have a minimum of 4 to 6 years of successful and increasingly responsible senior-level administrative experience in a role related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
