Bemidji State University (BSU) invites qualified applicants to join our team as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration.  The Department of Business Administration is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track probationary position to teach courses related to Law (i.e., Legal Environment, Labor and Employment Relations, and Business Law). The successful applicant may be assigned additional courses from the Business Administration curriculum based on their academic credentials. The Department currently houses undergraduate and graduate-level programs including Business Administration, Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Enrolling around 5,000 students, BSU offers more than 70 undergraduate majors and eight graduate degrees encompassing arts, sciences and select professional programs. Our Business programs are nationally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and are strongly focused on student success. Responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Business Administration include:

• Teaching online and on-campus courses in Legal Environment, Labor and Employment Relations, Business Law, Business Ethics, and Corporate Social Responsibility, at the undergraduate level and at the graduate level.
• Teaching additional courses from the Business Administration curriculum based on the teaching and curricular needs of the department.
• A strong commitment to quality teaching.
• The ability to design and deliver online courses with D2L Brightspace course management software or be willing to obtain the necessary skills for online course design and delivery.
• Advising and supporting students’ academic progress.
• Pursuing scholarly and/or creative activities.
• Assisting with program accreditation.
• Contributing to a collegial and supportive environment that advances the goals of the department, including curriculum development, assessment, and other departmental governance activities.
• Contributing to interdisciplinary teaching and involvement in activities that support BSU’s Shared Fundamental Values.

 

Minimum qualifications for this position include:

• Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from an accredited institution.
• Skills and ability to design and deliver online courses with D2L Brightspace software or be willing to obtain the necessary skills for online course design and delivery.
• Evidence of quality teaching as demonstrated by use of high impact learning practices.
• Demonstrated experience working with and/or interest working with students and colleagues from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds and using culturally responsive pedagogy and practice.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

• Relevant professional/industry experience in the fields related to the courses to be taught.
• Familiarity with the accreditation process.

For those who love the outdoors, there are wooded, multi-use trail systems within minutes of campus and community parks with walking trails, playgrounds and a skate park. Lake Bemidji State Park and its miles of navigable trails is located directly across the lake from BSU, and the Buena Vista Ski Area — just 12 miles north of campus — offers downhill skiing and BSU-sponsored student transportation in the winter months. Further, the Mississippi River Headwaters is a mere 45 minutes from Bemidji.
