Dean, Halmos College of Arts and Sciences and the Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center

Nova Southeastern University (NSU), a private university experiencing great momentum in research and scholarship, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Dean of the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences and the Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center (Halmos College). This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, visionary leader to play a pivotal role in advancing a compelling vision for a newly formed college that integrates the arts, humanities and the sciences while capitalizing on interdisciplinary program and research opportunities across the university. Halmos College supports a full-time faculty of 126 and offers 19 bachelor's, seven master's and two doctoral programs as well as a number of certificates to 2,500 undergraduate and 480 graduate students. 

The dean will be responsible for driving academic innovation, leading with strategic purpose, and advocating for the mission and success of the college. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of Halmos College will work collaboratively across the university to explore and implement strategies that strengthen NSU's mission, programs, research profile, and ability to serve students. 

The University seeks in its next dean a visionary, engaged and collaborative leader with a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, student success, and fiscal accountability in order to achieve greater recognition for the University regarding research and academic standing. Desired competencies include successful leadership experience in managing a complex academic unit with strength in budgeting and finance, curriculum review and implementation, fundraising, and the ability to build strong, collaborative and productive relationships both internally and externally. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in a discipline related to the mission of the college and academic credentials that merit appointment as a full professor, including a distinguished academic record in teaching, scholarship, and research.
