Affiliate Faculty Position in Sport Management

The Department of Movement Science and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) seek candidates for an affiliate faculty position (non-tenure line) in Sport Management. This is a full-time non-tenure line position beginning August 6, 2021. 

 

Candidates must have obtained a master’s degree in Sport Management or a closely related field; teaching experience and the ability to teach courses across the sport management curriculum utilizing multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, online); strong communication and interpersonal skills; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.

 

Additional preferred qualifications include two years of undergraduate teaching in sport management or related field; the ability to teach in sport management content courses that include two or more of the following areas: sport revenue strategies; sport law & ethics; finance & budgeting; sport analytics; psycho-social issues in sport; sport management internships. Preferred candidates will also have experience as a sport practitioner; be experienced in supporting students in professional development activities; and provide evidence of a commitment to quality teaching and mentoring, and the use of pedagogical methods that enable underrepresented students to reach their maximum potential.

 

Responsibilities for the position include a 12- to 15-credit workload per semester including sport management content classes and field experience supervision in the fall, winter and summer semesters; mentoring and supporting professional development opportunities for sport management students; providing vision and expertise in sport management program development; and developing and maintaining communication with community partners and expanding local and regional connections and field experience sites. 

 

The GVSU Department of Movement Science consists of four programs, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, and Sport Management, and aspires to be a center of excellence in the diverse study of sport and human movement.
