The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences (SPAS) is internationally recognized for its professional study of photographic practices in a wide array of related disciplines, including advertising and fine art photography, photojournalism, visual media, photographic sciences, and media technologies. It maintains connections with the college’s Image Permanence Institute, a recognized leader in the research and preservation of images and cultural heritage. Detailed Job Description
The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences invites applicants to apply for the endowed and tenured Gannett Chair, an associate professor or professor position in its Bachelor of Science program and Master of Science program. Applicants must demonstrate significant professional experience and expertise in media and imaging technologies. The appointment begins August 2021. Successful candidates must be committed to teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in Photographic Sciences (BS) and Media Arts and Technology (MS). Based on the demands of this area, the ideal candidate will provide leadership and vision in the continued interdisciplinary vibrancy of the School's BS/MS programs, its students and curricula.

Required Minimum Qualifications

 

 

  • MS or PhD in imaging, the imaging/media industry or related field
  • Experience in imaging and media technologies, including but not limited to digital asset/content management, image quality, color, contemporary media publishing, media communications, and social media
  • Applied experience in media content management and generation (still, video, image quality, color, programming for imaging, image delivery and optimization, imaging systems and workflow)
  • Demonstrated achievement in imaging and media fields, records of which may include conference proceedings, standards work, presentations, publications, patents, and other notable achievements
  • Teaching experience and/or industry education experience
  • Leadership/management experience
  • Academic/industry research experiences, including grants/foundation funding support
  • Demonstrated professional communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
  • Evidence of ability to articulate and implement a dynamic vision for the future of the photography program in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences
