Assistant Director for Outreach

The Assistant Director for Outreach represents Ohio University both on- and off-campus to a wide variety of constituents. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Operations, this position will serve as the primary liaison to Undergraduate Admissions for coordinating the planning of Student Financial Aid’s support of recruitment and yield events, to local high schools for high school financial aid presentations and to internal constituents within the University for various outreach and presentation activity. The Assistant Director for Outreach will also counsel students and parents on all financial aid and scholarship matters as well as monitoring various types of financial aid and scholarship eligibility.

Initiates, develops, and maintains relationships with constituents within the university community proactively coordinating and assisting colleagues in planning and execution of on- and off-campus events to support recruitment, admission, yield, and student retention. Outreach extends to service to internal student groups on matters such as maintenance of financial aid eligibility and financial literacy. Advises Associate Director of Operations of the needs of the University community and connects constituents with appropriate contacts, internal and external to Student Financial Aid, as needed.

Evaluates financial aid cycle to identify and implement outreach on social media, Student Financial Aid website and email communications. Maintains thorough knowledge of trends and cycles in the industry and the financial aid lifecycle to proactively plan for timely outreach to students, parents and university constituents.

Provide direct counseling to an assigned alpha load of students and parents on all financial aid and scholarship matters. Counseling includes explanation of types and terms of aid, affordability, costs, repayment, Satisfactory Academic Progress and financial literacy. For specified students, resolve federal student aid overawards, track eligibility for various types of financial aid and manage award revisions due to enrollment or campus changes.
