Assistant/Associate/Full Professors in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) of the Newark College of Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professors in Mechanical Engineering and related areas. By the time of appointment, successful candidates must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree, with a record of pertinent high-quality research. The specific areas of interest are:

Artificial Intelligence / Robotics / Automation / Design: Application of AI through big data and Machine Learning to Mechanical Engineering Design and Manufacturing. Development of novel robotics; application areas including Automation and Control, Novel Mechanisms and Actuators, Healthcare, Rehabilitation and Assistive Robotics.

Energy Systems/ Materials / Batteries: Experimental, theoretical or computational approaches applied to materials, energy conversion systems, and energy storage systems. Research on materials used in renewable energy systems, next-gen batteries, and solid-state batteries.

Thermo-Fluids/Biological Fluid Mechanics: Thermo-fluid analysis of biological systems or bio-inspired systems. Complex fluids and thermo-fluids with applications to energy systems, and multiphase systems with phase change. Combustion and reactive fluid flow and heat transfer, microfluidics systems and devices.

The successful candidate is expected to carry out high quality scholarly research and collaborate with other faculty. He or she should have a clear plan to establish a vibrant research program, secure external research funding, and participate actively in guiding, educating and teaching graduate and undergraduate students.
