UCLA School of Dentistry invites qualified applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the Professor or Associate Professor level to chair the Section of Orthodontics in the Division of Growth and Development, effective July 1, 2021.

The UCLA School of Dentistry has a strong commitment to excellence in dental education, patient care, research, and public service. For over five decades, our dedicated and talented students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends, have propelled the School of Dentistry to become one of the premier dental schools on the national and international stage. The highest achieving applicants, from diverse backgrounds, are consistently admitted into our 4-year DDS program. Our residency training programs are among the best and most competitive in the world, with the orthodontics program having nine GME-funded positions per year. Our cutting- edge research is internationally acclaimed in a variety of fields, including salivary diagnostics, oral cancer, bone biology, bioengineering, molecular microbiology, neuromuscular diseases, and public health. With a commitment to public service, our students and residents are given numerous opportunities to work directly in communities in need serving those with poor access to oral health services. The School of Dentistry campus is located in the City of Los Angeles with its uniquely rich heritage, a perfect climate, a vibrant, diverse, and multiethnic population, and a robust economy.

Applicants must possess a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree. Additional qualifications include a certificate of advanced training in Orthodontics from an accredited postdoctoral program; The credentials to attain a California dental license or being eligible for a dental license/special permit in California.

Candidates with skills and experience in graduate dental education and mentoring are encouraged to apply. Board certification, a track record of scholarship, an interest in developing a funded research program, and experience in administrative functions, development, and alumni relations are highly desirable.

The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative, excellent organization, and communication skills. The candidate will join the renowned faculty at the School of Dentistry in the number-one ranked public university in the country and will participate in achieving the broader strategic aims of the School and the Division.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. An opportunity for part-time intramural or extramural practice will be available.
