Bassingthwaighte Chair in Integrative Physiology

The Department of Physiology and the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invite applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the area of Integrative Physiology.  

This is a joint appointment between the Department (51%) and the Centre (49%) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor OR Professor. The expected start date is July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will be considered for appointment as the James B. Bassingthwaighte Chair in Integrative Physiology, a new endowed Chair position at the University of Toronto. The appointment as Chair will be for an initial 5-year term, renewable following a favorable review

We seek an outstanding individual to lead an innovative program in integrative physiology that employs computational/mathematical/physiomic modeling approaches to help understand mechanisms underlying transitions from healthy and diseased states in cells or organisms.

The successful candidate will lead a program to develop quantitative approaches for answering important physiological questions via collaborations within a multidisciplinary team that might include, for example, mathematicians, computer scientists, bioengineers, stem cell and systems biologists. The appointee will be expected to sustain research at the highest international level; to maintain and lead an outstanding, independent, competitive, externally funded research program; and to participate actively in departmental and affiliate institute activities.
