Assistant Professor in Social Foundations of Education

Join innovative faculty in the School of Education and Human Services (SEHS) at Oakland University. We seek to hire an Assistant Professor with expertise in social foundations in education and teacher education. We seek individuals who can teach courses in education foundations with pedagogical practices aligned with educational equity and social justice. Candidates are expected to have: 1) an earned doctorate or ABD (with completion by August 2021) in teacher education or a related field, 2) successful teaching experience at the PK-12 level and 3) potential for accomplishment in scholarship. In addition, the successful candidate should have experience with a practice-based approach to teacher preparation. We value candidates who can work collaboratively across departments and institutional boundaries and participate in sustained engagement with local schools and organizations in Southeast Michigan.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social foundations of education with an educational equity and social justice orientation (e.g., “How People Learn;” “Teaching for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion;” “Careers in Teaching: Teaching, Learning and Schools”).
