Field Manager Natural Areas

Serve as the field manager for the Miami University Natural Areas system, comprised of 1000 acres and 17 miles of hiking trails.

 

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Provide support for field research, education, and community outreach activities in the Natural Areas
  • Perform routine maintenance of trails and signage in the trails system
  • Operate off-road vehicles and gas-powered equipment
  • Train and supervise student employees to work in the Natural Areas
  • Apply herbicide treatments to invasive plants in management areas
  • Order and maintain supplies needed for field maintenance of trails
  • Maintain the Natural Areas website
  • Coordinate with the Physical Facilities Department on maintenance of parking lots and service roads
  • Serve on the university Natural Areas Committee

 

Required: Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences, resource management, outdoor education, or a related field; a valid driver’s license. Position not eligible for H1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with three years of experience in managing natural areas; pesticide applicator license.
