The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Associate or the Full Professor level to begin in the fall 2021. The Department of Electrical Engineering is deeply committed to increase diversity among faculty and students in the department. This position is part of university strategic investment initiative on recently identified signature area of material science and engineering. This position is a joint appointment between the Department of Electrical Engineering (75%) and the Physics Department (25%), with Electrical Engineering being the home department.
Committed, energetic, highly motivated candidates compassionate about teaching and research in academic institution are sought to join the University of Arkansas’s material science and engineering faculty. The selected applicant will teach both electrical engineering and physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels on a rotational basis. Priority will be given to those with specialization in the area (or closely related) of emerging materials for electronics and photonics. In addition, the candidates need to demonstrate interest at collaborative research and have excellent communication skills and great passion to teach college level classes in electrical engineering, material science, and physics. Applicants shall have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, physics, or related discipline with focus on material science. Applicants should demonstrate excellent research records in either academia or industry. The successful applicant is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate students. A startup package will be provided to establish an externally funded research program.
The Electrical Engineering Department has 16 faculty, is one of eight departments in the College of Engineering, and the home to several nationally supported research Centers at the University of Arkansas. The department provides the education necessary for electrical engineers and the faculty of the department play an integral role in teaching and providing undergraduate students with research experience. The Physics Department has 21 faculty members, eight of which are focused and supported on research in material science. In addition, the campus is the home of the Institute for Nanoscale Science and Engineering located in a new Material Science and Engineering building. The Institute is composed of 20 faculty members from departments across the university and was the home for two awards of the NSF MRSEC Center
