Director, Recruiting Operations

JOB PURPOSE

Sana Biotechnology is a startup organization with a focus on engineering cells as medicine.  To do that successfully, we need to hire the best talent.  To hire the best talent, we need to have efficient tools and processes for our recruiting team.  The Director of Recruiting Operations will lead the charge in building, developing and maintaining scalable processes and programs to support our recruiters and candidates through a seamless and efficient experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Recruiting Operations is a key member of the People Team.  S/he will establish and lead projects that will have impact across the whole company and all candidates.
  • Establish Sana's university recruiting and relations strategy, intern program and diversity strategy in partnership with the Executive Director of Recruiting and Sana's diversity leader.
    • Partner cross-functionally within Sana to determine our university partners and types of relationships
    • Reach out to create and maintain relationships with the selected universities
    • Work with People Partners and scientific leaders to establish the intern experience at Sana ensuring the internship is beneficial to Sana and impactful to the intern, thus supporting return hires
  • Creates and ensures a bar setting candidate experience.  This may be through reporting and resolving defects against the established process and/or a feedback mechanism to gather candidate feedback directly.  Develop and implement specific candidate experience programs in response to survey feedback.
  • Owner of end-to-end recruiting process
    • Training and onboarding plans for new recruiters
    • Documentation for managers
    • Create / evolve programs run through external partners (ie, candidate travel and relocation, background verification
  • Leads a team of Recruiting Coordinators, who are the nucleus of the recruiting function.  RCs support the process through scheduling of exploratory interviews, phone screens and on-site interviews.  The Director will lead this team, establish performance metrics and measure against them, act as an escalation point for any issues
  • Optimizes the use of Greenhouse, our ATS, and any other technology systems put in place (CRM, sourcing tools, etc.).  Monitors usage and anecdotal feedback to make the experience seamless to users - both recruiters and candidates
  • Utilizes reports and metrics (which may include: funnel metrics, survey results, compliance tracking, audits, etc.) to make data-driven decisions on needed changes to the system or processes/programs.  Recommends changes to current suite of reports/metrics, as needed.
  • Is a subject matter expert in the field of Recruiting Operations and brings forward ideas for new programs and deliverables that support the organization's mission of hiring the best talent
  • Stays connected to internal customers to seek feedback and improvement opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
  • 10+ years' experience working in a fast-paced recruiting organization
  • 4+ years' experience in Recruiting Operations
  • Experience with the set-up and maintenance of a cloud-based Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Management experience leading a team of professionals at various points in their careers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced educational degree
  • HR or Recruiting certification - S/PHR, AIRS, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities and deadlines
  • Communicate and interact with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, at times consulting and influencing business decisions
  • Self-starter who can see a need and meet that need
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Deadline driven while maintaining a high level of customer service
