The Mount Vernon School invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Action. 

Located in Atlanta, GA, Mount Vernon is a school of inquiry, innovation, and impact, preparing all students to be college ready, globally competitive, and engaged citizen leaders. Committed to creating and sustaining a school culture where all members feel valued and safe, Mount Vernon continues to engage in courageous conversations about race and other complex topics. The collaboration of teachers and students throughout the School has been fruitful and impactful. From the anti-bias curriculum focus to the schoolwide partnership with the Center for Civil and Human Rights, the School has taken incremental, deliberate steps to advance IDEA.

Reporting to the Head of School and serving as an integral member of the senior leadership team, the Chief of IDEA will lead Mount Vernon’s strategic planning around four key areas: Organizational and School Climate; Learning and Well-Being; Retention and Recruitment; and Advancement and Continuous Improvement.

The ideal candidate will have a career demonstrating a shared commitment to Mount Vernon’s core values, the mission, and to advancing inclusion, diversity, equity and the actions necessary for change. A strong track record of strategic planning and team management are highly desired. In addition, the Mount Vernon community seeks an innovative thought partner and collegial collaborator who leads across constituencies with respect, integrity, warmth, and humility.
