Assistant/Associate/Full Professor for Finance

 

The Citadel's Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in finance at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor commencing August 2021. This is a full-time teaching, research and service position. Faculty within the Baker School of Business typically teach a 3/3 course load with appropriate research and service expectations.

The Baker School of Business has innovative academic programs and a new academic building. The School offers multiple AACSB-accredited undergraduate majors in addition to finance. The well-established MBA program has a global reach attuned to the needs of working adults. As our reach has expanded, we remain focused on the primary mission to educate and develop innovative leaders of principle to serve a global community.

Job Responsibilities:

Faculty members are expected to create and implement an innovative finance curriculum that integrates both theory and practice, incorporates the Bastin Financial Leadership Lab, emphasizes data analytics using Bloomberg terminals and other data sources, and features real-world applications of finance and financial analysis.

The School currently offers a variety of finance courses, including corporate finance, personal finance, financial modeling, risk management, investments, portfolio management, and financial markets and institutions at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty members are expected to maintain established accreditation standards through publication of quality peer-reviewed research. Faculty members are also expected to contribute to the School's mission through service to the institution and the profession by mentoring students and providing academic and career advising, and through the development of experiential learning activities.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited business program or equivalent and demonstrate the ability to effectively teach finance courses, both face-to-face and online. Applicants must demonstrate research potential, and provide evidence of appropriate service activities. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered but must have the degree in hand by the start date of August 2021   as a condition of employment. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Summer teaching opportunities are available, especially in the online format.

The primary qualification of any applicant is the demonstrated ability to effectively teach and intellectually engage, both through research and leadership.
