Temporary University Specialist, Strategic Initiatives

The School of Business is seeking a part-time Temporary University Specialist to provide administrative support for its strategic initiatives.  This position will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and will be based at Graduate Business Learning Center (GBLC) in downtown Hartford.  Evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion in support of classes and program activities.  In-state travel to the other University campuses may also be required on occasion.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Organizing meetings and other strategic activities with University faculty, staff and external constituents.
  • Collecting and maintaining up-to-date information and data on School of Business academic programs, centers and other initiatives; researching, summarizing and tracking data as needed.
  • Promoting upcoming activities and engagements in support of the School’s strategic goals.
  • Acting as primary point of contact for events and activities as assigned; responding to inquiries in an informed and timely manner.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One to two years of administrative or program support experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear and concise communications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively using video meeting platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and ability to use own transportation to occasionally travel to other University campuses and other in-state locations in support of program activities.

 

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a part-time temporary position with a flexible schedule of 10 hours per week for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension dependent upon program needs and available funding.
