Tenure Track Positions-Finance and Economics

Job Announcement

The Department of Economics and Finance at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications to fill potentially up to three positions.  In addition to the areas noted below, preference will be given to candidates who can assist the needs of the department in the following areas:  international finance, investments, managerial finance, entrepreneurial finance, and/or FinTech along with demonstrated publishing success in ranked finance and/or economics journals.  Candidates must specify which one of the following positions they are applying for when submitting application materials.

  1. Tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Finance in the area of investments and corporate finance with the ability to publish in top academic finance journals, provide high quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate level, participation in the Ph.D. Program in Business Administration by mentoring doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees, service on faculty committees, and community outreach. 
  2. Tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Finance or Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics in the area of real estate with the ability to publish in top academic finance and/or economics journals, provide high quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate level, participation in the Ph.D. Program in Business Administration by mentoring doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees, service on faculty committees, and community outreach.  
  3. Tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Finance or Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics in the area of banking and financial institutions with the ability to publish in top academic finance and/or economics journals, provide high quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate level, participation in the Ph.D. Program in Business Administration by mentoring doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees, service on faculty committees, and community outreach.  

The expected starting date is September 1, 2021.  Salary and benefits are AACSB-competitive and appropriate for experience and qualifications.  Hiring decisions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Required Qualifications

Completion of the Ph.D. degree in Finance or Ph.D. degree in Economics, as applicable, and demonstrated expertise associated with one of the three positions outlined above from an AACSB-accredited institution by the starting date is necessary along with strong evidence of potential publication success in top journals and quality instruction. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important.  Candidates with an exceptional publication record and prior experience may qualify for an endowed professorship.
