The Opportunity

The University of Southern California, one of the world’s leading private research universities and an institution revered for its entrepreneurial spirit, seeks its next Associate Senior Vice President, Audit Services. USC has established itself as a leading institution in the academy, distinguished for its unique, nimble, and inventive culture.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), the Associate Senior Vice President, Audit Services (“ASVP”) evaluates the effectiveness of the university’s internal audit control policies, practices, and systems. The ASVP establishes and maintains internal control practices, develops and implements comprehensive and strategic audit plans, and monitors management’s achievement of committed action plans from prior audits. The ASVP will provide key stakeholders with reports on audit scope, findings and root causes, assesses compliance and efficient use of resources, and reports suspected instances of policy violations in conjunction with other compliance executives.  Additionally, the ASVP will drive risk/control awareness and self-assessment throughout the university, and represents USC to external or regulatory agencies, with the authority to make decisions on behalf of the university.

USC seeks a collaborative leader with a distinguished record of outstanding accomplishments. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of relevant analysis, accounting and finance regulations, and familiarity with continuous process improvement techniques. The next ASVP will have advanced knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance along with a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), as well as the methods and regulations established by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).  The ASVP will have the ability to interact effectively and engender trust with management at all levels and be known for empathy, integrity, sincerity, diligence, transparency, and toughness of mind with likability.
