Harvard University seeks applications and nominations for the newly created position of Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO) in the Office for Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging to serve as a senior administrator who will prioritize and champion diversity and inclusion to foster bold organizational change in collaboration with the highest levels of administrative and faculty leadership and governance at Harvard University.

The CDIO will be an integrative part of the Office for Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging. As such, they will work closely with the Senior Advisor and Strategist to the President to lead, coordinate, enhance, and guide efforts to create and sustain an environment of inclusive excellence for all members of the Harvard community. The successful candidate will also work to shape and launch Harvard University’s strategic plan for diversity, inclusion, and belonging and establish a sustainable infrastructure for leading and managing the many strands of work required to achieve a culture of inclusive excellence.

Reporting directly to the Senior Advisor and Strategist to the President, the CDIO will be a thought leader and subject matter expert to serve as a trusted advisor and implementer on issues of diversity, inclusion, and belonging across the University. The CDIO will play a pivotal role in leading the implementation of the recommendations of the President’s Task Force on Inclusion and Belonging. They will collaborate with stakeholders and partners across campus to develop and implement a strategic plan, build and sustain a robust network of practitioners and stakeholders, and assemble and maintain systems to measure, evaluate, and assess the impact of diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
