Assistant Teaching Professor or Assistant Lecturer

Information Systems & Analytics: Assistant Teaching Professor or Assistant Lecturer to teach and provide service to the institution, which will include coordination of our “Introduction to Computational Thinking” course. The appointment start date is August 2020.

 

The “Computational Thinking” course is part of the required First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) curriculum for all Farmer School of Business majors. The FYIC is a four-course block that teaches students vital skills such as critical, creative, computational, and ethical thinking; as well as coding, communication, and collaboration.

 

The FYIC course instructor and coordinator will be part of a faculty who work as a team to integrate these key skills across four FYIC classes (Foundations of Business; Foundations of Business Communication; Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Thinking; and Introduction to Computational Thinking for Business). Required: Ph.D. in Information Systems or related field by date of appointment for appointment as an Assistant Teaching Professor; Master’s Degree in Information Systems or related field by date of appointment and industry experience for appointment as an Assistant Lecturer.

 

While not required, additional consideration may be given to candidates with experience teaching logical thinking as an approach to problem solving through introductory programming logic concepts especially to business students and those with prior course or curriculum leadership responsibilities.

 

Teaching faculty in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics are effective educators and provide service to the department, division and the university in addition to serving our students.
