Lecturer or Professor

The Information Systems Department invites applications for two Lecturer or Professor of the Practice positions with a start date of spring semester 2020 or fall semester 2020.  


The successful candidates are expected to be actively involved with teaching and advising the Department's undergraduate students. These candidates will have experience in multiple areas of teaching that are relevant to our discipline, to include technical, programming and/or management courses. The IS Department is multi-disciplinary, placing a strong emphasis on the theory and application of information systems. At a minimum, candidates must have earned a MS in a relevant area. There is a pathway for promotion at UMBC from Lecturer, to Sr. Lecturer to Principal Lecturer. Candidates with an earned Ph.D. and significant industrial or governmental background are encouraged to apply and may be appointed to the position as a Professor of the Practice. The department offers a wide variety of courses at the Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral levels, and has one of the highest IS enrollments in the USA The IS Department offers a BS in Information Systems and a BA in Business Technology Administration.
