Department Chair, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (ChBE) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is seeking a transformational leader to serve as the next Department Chair.   Founded in 1870 in Rolla, MO, Missouri S&T is a highly selective, top research university with approximately 9000 students.  Missouri S&T is part of the four-campus University of Missouri System and conveniently situated 100 miles from St. Louis. New campus leadership has a vision to transform S&T into a leading public technological research university for discovery, creativity, and innovation.

 

Building from our strengths in student-centered, experiential learning; young, aspirational faculty; and an accomplished alumni base; the next leader will be poised to grow the department’s national and international reputation. Donated by alumni, our new, state-of-the-art 68,500-square-foot facility features unique, modular research labs, high-bay areas, and multi-media classrooms. The next department chair will enable others to strengthen and develop research relationships; as well as leverage campus-wide strategic initiatives to spur regional and statewide growth.

 

The ChBE department at Missouri S&T is the largest Chemical Engineering department in Missouri. The ChBE department currently has 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 3 teaching faculty, close to 400 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students, plus thousands of dedicated alumni in various sectors.  In addition to ABET-accredited BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering, the department is looking to offer graduate certificate programs in Safety and Process Intensification, and an expanded Biochemical Engineering BS degree.  More information about the position and the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering can be found at: chemeng.mst.edu/chbechairsearch 

 

The qualified candidates will be renowned scholars with an earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. They will have demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity and an outstanding record of excellence in research, teaching, and service at a level commensurate with appointment as a tenured, full professor. The successful candidates will possess visionary leadership abilities, rooted in shared governance and effective communication.
