Dean of the School of Health Sciences

Galloway, NJ

Stockton University (Stockton or the University) seeks a visionary, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as the next Dean of the School of Health Sciences (the School). This is an exceptional opportunity for an entrepreneurial and mission-driven individual to join a highly supportive university community in positioning the School as a key source of thought-leadership and talent within the broader health care sector. The new Dean will capitalize on Stockton's new School of Health Sciences Simulation Center, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources such as a 40-seat simulation classroom, computerized human mannequins and an Anatomage 3D medical interactive table, to articulate a vision that aligns with the University's strategic plan, maximize the academic programs, lead the School as it develops clinical programs, and build external relationships and partnerships with health care leaders in the surrounding area and beyond.

Stockton University is a public undergraduate and graduate liberal arts university that includes programs in the arts, sciences, and professional studies. It is part of the New Jersey state system of higher education. Stockton's 1,600-acre main campus is located in the Pinelands National Reserve in Galloway, New Jersey. In the fall 2018, the University opened Stockton University Atlantic City, a residential site, approximately 20 minutes from the main campus. Additional locations include Manahawkin, Hammonton, and Woodbine, NJ.

The School of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Health Sciences, Nursing, Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Communication Disorders, and Occupational Therapy. The School enrolls over 1,800 undergraduate and nearly 300 graduate students, and has a budget of $7.15 million, 49 full-time faculty, and 11 staff.

As the chief academic and administrative officer for the School of Health Sciences, the Dean reports to the Provost and provides leadership to faculty, students, and staff. The Dean leads planning, accreditation, program development, fundraising, and administrative and personnel efforts to build and sustain excellence in the School's operations. The Dean works collaboratively with Stockton leadership, other administrators and deans, faculty, and staff to advance the University and the School. Additionally, the Dean is the School's primary representative and engages with external stakeholders to build visibility, reputation, collaborations, philanthropic support, and revenue.

Stockton seeks a Dean of the School of Health Sciences who demonstrates exemplary strategic leadership ability, innovative drive and high energy, emotional intelligence, effective organizational management, and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. The Dean will bring a deep understanding of and respect for the importance of liberal arts as the foundation for quality professional education. The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial instinct as well as an outstanding record of leadership and management in complex academic or commensurate institutions. The Dean will serve as an ambassador to the health care community in the surrounding region, to external partners in academia and industry, and to alumni in the work of the School, securing resources and building relationships of enduring institutional value to the School, Stockton, and the greater New Jersey region. The successful candidate will also bring an appreciation for and provide leadership to the School on diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty, students, and staff.
