The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for a full-time Lecturer/Sr. Lecturer or Assistant/Associate/Professor of the Practice position for a three-year renewable (Lecturer) or five-year   renewable (Sr. Lecturer/Assistant/Associate/Professor of the Practice) appointment in our Accounting area, intended for placement in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, with an intended start date of July 1, 2020. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY. Renewal is contingent upon performance reviews, the ongoing need for the position, and the availability of funding.  

Responsibilities of the position include teaching up to five courses per year, including at least one large introductory class, with enrollment of 250 students, and up to three upper level classes.  Teaching assignments may change to meet the needs of the curriculum, as determined by School leadership.  This is an academic-year (i.e., 9 month) appointment. Although the primary role for this position is teaching, the School expects faculty to participate in student and school events including student advising, school projects, etc.

The ideal candidate will possess a master’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting, or a closely related field. The preferred qualification for the position consists of an advanced terminal degree in accounting (Ph.D.), or closely related field (DBA, JD/LL.M.) All applicants should have substantive prior teaching experience, as demonstrated through course evaluations. The successful applicant will also will be expected to maintain current AACSB standards for a scholarly academic (SA) or scholarly practitioner (SP), depending on their qualifications.  For those candidates holding a master’s degree only, industry experience, in an accounting firm or company, and professional certification as a CPA are required.  For those candidates holding an advanced terminal degree, preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in accounting and certification as a CPA, CMA, CIA, and/or CISA.

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the School of Hotel Administration (Hotel School). Dyson houses a top-ranked undergraduate business program as well as graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. degrees. Areas of faculty research include management; environmental, energy and resource economics; food and agricultural economics; and international and development economics. Faculty members in the Dyson School frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, and other units on campus.
