The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) seeks a strategic and transformative leader to serve as its next Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost). The Provost will have an extraordinary opportunity to build on the university’s growth and to help advance the university’s commitment to excellence in undergraduate liberal arts and graduate education and instruction, high academic standards, and scholarly achievement.

UNCW has recently earned the elevated classification from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Doctoral University with High Research Activity and is one of only eight institutions nationally to move up to this status from a Master’s Comprehensive University designation. The Provost will be an exceptional academic leader who will work with the university community to shape a vision for the future of academics at UNCW. A clear communicator, the Provost will work with deans and faculty to plan for the new doctoral and master’s programs that are slated to emerge and will develop a strategy for the growth and sustainability of the research and teaching enterprise.
