Assistant / Associate / Full Professor – Mechanical Engineering

New Jersey Institute of Technology

Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Assistant / Associate / Full Professor – Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) of the Newark College of Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professors in all areas of Mechanical Engineering. By the time of appointment, successful candidates must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree, with a record of pertinent high-quality research. The department will consider all areas of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science, some possible areas of interest are:

Advanced Manufacturing/Robotics/Design: Design, including design theory, product design and design for manufacturability. Integrated modeling, simulation and data science techniques that predictively improve the outcome of the design, manufacturing and assembly processes. Integration of thermal, electrical, and sensing functionalities into devices and systems. Development of novel robotics application areas including Control, Novel Mechanisms and Actuators, Prosthetics and Assistive Robotics.

Mechanics/Materials: computational solids mechanics (preferably at continuum level modeling) with an application towards biomaterials, energy storage and conversion materials, composites, and other emerging materials.

Thermo-Fluids: bio-inspired fluid mechanics and systems, complex fluids, application to energy systems, multiphase systems with phase change, combustion and reactive flows fluid flow and heat transfer, microfluidics systems and devices, high performance computing, turbulence, and environmental fluid dynamics, and heat transfer, thermal design, management and characterization of electronic systems and components.

NJIT is among the top 100 "National Universities” and top 100 “Best Graduate Engineering Schools" (per U.S. News & World Report). It offers a vibrant engineering community environment and exciting opportunities for research and education. Interdisciplinary centers and institutes across the campus (http://centers.njit.edu/) provide access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art core facilities and facilitate collaborative research activities. Universities, research institutes and industrial facilitates at the vicinity of NJIT further increase collaboration opportunities and access to experimental equipment.
