Associate Vice President and Dean of Online and Continuing Education

The University of Utah seeks an inaugural Associate Vice President and Dean of Online and Continuing Education (AVP) to steward its growing online and continuing education enterprise in order to expand access to education, enhance and ensure student success, and meet the needs of a changing workforce across the state and beyond.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and as an integral part of the University of Utah’s leadership team, the AVP will lead, envision, and communicate the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of a vision and strategy for online and continuing education at the University of Utah in alignment with the university’s strategic goals and priorities.

Working closely with the academic deans and schools across the university as well as with community groups and business leaders, the AVP will develop and expand coordinated online and continuing education programs targeting undergraduates, graduate students, professionals, and non-degree seeking students.

The University of Utah seeks a proven academic leader of the highest integrity with a track record of innovation and commitment to collaboration. An earned doctorate or terminal degree is required. The ideal candidate will have a strategic, forward-thinking orientation; an educational philosophy that embraces students of all backgrounds, including the engagement of diverse students; a thorough understanding and evidence of innovative and effective practices; and at least 10 years of related experience in innovative educational delivery and online and continuing education.
