President

Catawba College invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for an experienced and innovative leader to serve as its next president.

Catawba College was established in 1851, and in 1925 Catawba moved to its current location in Salisbury, North Carolina, a historic Southern city (pop. 34,000) located 45 minutes from the greater Charlotte area and the Greensboro and Winston-Salem areas. The campus’s 41 builings are a beautiful blend of neogothic architecture set on a shaded hillside adjacent to its own ecological preserve. While the College maintains an affiliation with the United Church of Christ, it seeks to maintain an atmosphere congenial to all students in search of truth. Students of many different religious persuasions are represented in the student body.

Catawba College is a supportive community that is committed to its 1,300 students both in and out of the classroom. Students hail from 29 U.S. states and 19 foreign countries. Approximately 42% of Catawba’s students are student-athletes. Of the 90 full-time faculty employed at Catawba, 83 percent hold the doctorate or terminal degree in their discipline. Catawba’s School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, School of Health Science and Human Performance, School of Performing Arts, and the Division of Distance and Online Education are home to more than 70 different fields of study.

The College’s next president will ensure that Catawba continues to provide a transformative education for its students while embracing, promoting, and fostering the College's need to grow with distinction.  Catawba’s operating budget is approximately $40 million and the endowment of $68 million supports the College’s educational and service activities. Catawba College seeks a president who will align and amplify Catawba’s internal and external messaging around a single vision, grow enrollment and improve student retention and success, build on strong fundraising and resource generation efforts that will lead Catawba into the next decade, and continue to strengthen Catawba’s engagement with the Salisbury-Rowan community and the areas surrounding the College.
