Johnson C. Smith University, an HBCU founded in 1868, seeks a dynamic, solutions-oriented, collaborative visionary to serve as the Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The Position

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will be the leader of a college that brings together programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, in a three-building interconnected complex, the highlight of which is the recently completed STEM building. The Dean will be charged with coordinating the operations of academic programs, while overseeing the planning and implementation of new programs.

The new Dean will appreciate the unique role HBCUs play in the nation’s educational system. He/she will possess an earned doctorate in a STEM field. Faculty of the STEM College will welcome a leader who is a scientist or engineer, who demonstrates intellectual curiosity and appreciation for all disciplines in the school. He/she will have a proven record as a scholar and educator, and will bring significant academic and administrative leadership experience to this position.
