Develops and administers programs to meet the needs of UCSB's first-year students, including transfer students. Primary duties include the development, implementation, and measurement of programs designed to assist incoming student populations as they transition to meet the expectations and demands of the research university. Serves as instructor of record as needed for courses pertaining to freshman and new transfer student orientation to the university. Supports co-curricular engagement and student success through a multitude of channels and in collaboration with campus partners. Responsible for coordination of student election processes (Campus Elections Commission and Graduate Students Association), upholding rules and regulations pertaining to campus organizations, investigating and responding to reports of organization misconduct and hazing, developing implementing and measuring programs related to hazing prevention, and analytical support of the Assistant Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students including the support of initiatives to improve student success. 

 

Requirements: Master's Degree. Broad knowledge of university policies and procedures; have a strong theoretical and philosophical foundation in student development and advising, and be effective in interpersonal communications, problem-solving, and public speaking. Strong written and oral communication skills, and must be able to relate effectively to faculty, students, and staff. Skills in judgement, decision-making, and problem solving. Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. 

 

Notes: Criminal history background check required. Evening and weekend work may be required. 

 

Salary: $62,000- $68,000/yr.
