The Director is the IPLI’s chief executive officer and is responsible for the leadership, administration, and management of the Institute in accordance with the Indiana statute creating IPLI, University policies and procedures, and state and federal law.  The Executive Director is authorized to develop administrative procedures to take actions as needed to fulfill his or her responsibilities.

Qualifications: Education: Master’s Degree; Experience: Principalship of at least 3-4 Years in a K-12 environment and successful building-level principalship experience that can be documented in references.

The Director must be of good character and of unquestionable morals and integrity.  The Director shall have the experience and the skills necessary to work effectively with the Advisory Board, Institute employees, Leadership Team, ISU employees, IPLI participants and graduates, policy makers, and stakeholder groups to achieve the Institute’s mission. 

Job Description: The Director provides leadership for all aspects of the Institute, insuring fidelity of resource acquisition and expenditures, supervising personnel, coordination of activities with other organizations, universities, Leadership Team, and the Advisory Board. The Director shall oversee the effective and efficient running of all operations of the Institute, to include issues related to:

•                Personnel decisions regarding mentors, administrative assistants, program coordinators, graduate assistants, and participants;

•                Financial disbursements, balances, and compliance with ISU and state policies;

•                All seminar functions to include planning, logistics, and special guests;

•                Leadership Team;

•                Mentors;

•                Regional focus-cohort meetings;

•                Matters concerning the Advisory Board and meetings;

•                Reports for Advisory Board and the Indiana General Assembly;

•                Communication to members and IPLI constituencies through quarterly newsletters, blogs, and a presence on various social media outlets;

•                Proposal writing to further development of additional institutes;

•                Working with ISU legislative liaison with matters related to that office;

•                Maintaining a strong reputation and state-wide presence of IPLI;

•                Assessment of IPLI;

•                Marketing IPLI;

•                Recruitment of participants, mentors, and Advisory Board members, as needed;

•                Moving the state model toward a national model;

•                Attending, presenting, and recruiting at relevant conferences;

•                Providing updates to the Dean of the Bayh College of Education and the Educational Leadership Department; and

•                Insuring the Institute and its employees abide by IPLI’s and the University’s policies and procedures.
