Provost

Korn Ferry, on behalf of Bentley University, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Provost.

Bentley University is one of the nation's leading business schools, dedicated to graduating future business leaders who possess exceptional professional skills, along with a broad global perspective and high ethical standards. From humble beginnings as a local accounting school, Bentley has risen to become one of the country’s leading top professional schools offering undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees. U.S. News & World Report now ranks Bentley No. 2 on its list of best undergraduate programs among regional universities in the North. The Princeton Review places Bentley among the top three colleges in career placement, while Money Magazine lists it as the twelfth best institutions for business majors. Located on a classic New England campus just minutes from Boston, Bentley is a dynamic community of scholars, professionals, and creative thinkers with a history of innovative educational practices. Blending business, technology and the liberal arts, Bentley provides students with relevant, practical, and transferable skills. Its motto is "Paratus," Latin for "Prepared."

The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer and a member of the President’s Cabinet. Reporting to President, Alison Davis-Blake, the Provost has broad responsibilities for faculty and research including support services such as the library and sponsored programs; support of undergraduate and graduation education (including academic advising and other academic services, the registrar, and graduate engagement); assurance of learning and accreditation; diversity and inclusion; and international education. In these capacities, the Provost works closely with the President and with other members of the President’s Cabinet. The Provost also works closely with the Provost’s Council which includes the Deans, Associate Deans and Department Chairs. Given the broad nature of the Provost’s responsibilities, the Provost should be prepared to represent the President when called upon and to act on behalf of the President as requested.

The successful candidate must provide overall academic leadership for the University and specifically must: (1) be an ambassador for the academic mission within the Cabinet and with the Board of Trustees, (2) provide leadership and support for faculty in creative and scholarly activities and in curriculum and program development as well as teaching excellence, (3) promote a positive culture on campus and a climate where people do not experience barriers because of aspects of their identity unrelated to their performance. The Provost must foster innovation, integration, and cooperation through a mix of academic strengths and leadership skills.

Qualified candidates will possess a traditional academic doctoral degree. Research, teaching, and service accomplishments consistent with an appointment at the rank of Professor at Bentley University are required.  The Provost may demonstrate these accomplishments through any of Bentley’s currently approved faculty profiles.

Nominations and expressions of interest will be received until a list of candidates is put forward for final consideration.

Review of candidates will begin immediately. Applications and nominations may be sent to:
