Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment at the Rady School of Management

Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment at the Rady School of Management

University of California, San Diego

The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. The Rady School invites applications for one or more positions for an Assistant Teaching Professor with potential security of employment (similar to a tenure-track position). The teaching faculty series at UC San Diego (whose official title is “Lecturer with (Potential) Security of Employment”) carries equivalent rights and responsibilities as the more traditional tenure-track faculty series. Teaching Professors are expected to place a stronger emphasis on teaching and scholarly activity related to education than on traditional disciplinary research activities. This appointment confers membership in the Academic Senate, and, contingent upon promotion, tenure-paralleling security of employment.

The Rady School seeks candidates who have demonstrated that they are strong educators in the following disciplines: accounting, business analytics, economics/strategy, finance, innovation, technology, and operations, marketing, management, and other mainstream business school disciplines. Applicants should make sure to select their specialization when applying.

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have completed a terminal degree in their respective discipline, or exceptional professional achievement and activity.

The Rady School seeks candidates whose scholarly activities/research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education. Preference will be given to candidates with scholarly records, demonstrated teaching experience with graduate students, and experience mentoring graduate students.

Salary and appointment level are dependent on experience and based on University of California pay scales. The positions are expected to have a start date of July 1, 2020.

Applicants are asked to submit a detailed vita, statement listing relevant teaching and scholarly activities/research, teaching evaluations, statement on diversity, and list of 3-5 references via our on-line submission web site: https://apol-recruit.ucsd.edu/apply/JPF02168.

The application should include: a detailed curriculum vita; a statement of teaching with relevant scholarly activities/research; teaching evaluations; and a diversity statement summarizing their contribution, or potential for contribution, to diversity and leadership. The diversity statement should summarize past experience in activities that promote diversity and inclusion and/or plans to make future contributions. Further information about the required diversity statement can be found at http://facultyexcellence.ucsd.edu/c2d/index.html.

Review of applications begins October 1, 2019, and continues until position(s) are filled.
