Job Description

The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), invites applicants for a regular lecturer position to begin July 1, 2020. We are seeking a specialist in Cinema and Media Studies (CMS) with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence in the field and an ability to teach English 202: Film Analysis and Interpretation, as well as other courses contributing to the department’s Minor in Cinema and Media Studies. We welcome applicants with expertise in a related area such as World Cinema, Indigenous Cinema, Queer Cinema, or Television Studies. Applicants are also expected to be able to teach literature of the U.S. and/or Core Humanities. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load with potential course release opportunities for academic advisement, assessment, curriculum development, and other administrative duties.

Required Qualifications

PhD in English or Film Studies (or a closely related field such as Digital Media Studies) by August 2020.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching in cinema and/or media studies.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of excellence in teaching literature of the U.S. and/or Core Humanities.

Evidence of attention to diversity, equity and inclusion in teaching and/or service.
