Miami University, the second oldest public institution in Ohio—and one of the eight Public Ivies— invites applications and nominations for the Dean of the Farmer School of Business. The University seeks a bold, innovative, and collaborative leader with demonstrated ability to: convey values and ethics; build relationships across organizations; create an environment of inclusion that respects and leverages diverse perspectives and voices;  empower student-centered thinking throughout the School; and build relationships with alumni, donors, corporate and other partners to drive fundraising success.  The Dean will be expected to enhance Miami University’s reputation as a nationally recognized, student-centered public research university by leading efforts to foster the growth and strengthening of the Farmer School of Business.

Miami University’s main campus is located in Oxford, Ohio, an attractive small city situated just an hour outside of Cincinnati and Dayton. Miami’s regional campuses are in Hamilton and Middletown, respectively located 13 and 22 miles from Oxford. The Farmer School of Business (FSB) is consistently recognized and ranked as one of the nation’s best undergraduate business schools. FSB enrolls 4,325 undergraduates with an additional 99 graduate students, supports a faculty of about 180 and staff of about 60. The School has almost 45,000 alumni living worldwide.  Its mission is to provide a premier business educational experience that prepares innovative, ethical and values-based leaders, and advances knowledge by optimizing the synergy among teaching, scholarship, and life-long learning. The FSB provides students with the lifelong ability to acquire knowledge and translate it into responsible action in a competitive global environment. The School subscribes to a balanced teacher/scholar approach, where high-quality research and excellent teaching are expected, celebrated, and rewarded.

The Dean is the chief administrative, academic, and budgetary officer for the Farmer School of Business and reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Dean serves as a role model of integrity, and a champion of diversity and inclusion for the School’s faculty and is accessible to both undergraduate and graduate students. The Dean provides innovative and creative leadership, collaborates with academic programs in planning, review, and development activities while working cooperatively and closely with faculty and administrative staff, other deans, and University leaders. The Dean will be expected to raise the profile of the School and contribute to making Miami University and Oxford a premier university for its future students and faculty. The Dean will invest significant time in developing relationships with alumni, community, and corporate partners in support of the Farmer School of Business and its continued growth.

The Dean will also work collaboratively with the School to advance, create, and implement programs consonant with the University's strategic plan launched in July 2019.

The Dean will hold an earned doctorate in one of FSB’s general fields of study and have achieved a distinguished record of scholarly, and professional achievement for appointment as a Full Professor in one of the programs within the School.
