Dean

Texas Christian University (TCU) is a major teaching and research institution with a personalized atmosphere. TCU occupies a prominent position in Fort Worth, the nation’s thirteenth largest city. The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metroplex, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the U.S., offers access to world-class museums and other cultural amenities, providing enriching personal and professional opportunities on and off campus.

The University is committed to inclusive excellence. With a wide variety of values, viewpoints, and religious traditions represented on the campus, TCU strives to be a home for a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds essential to rigorous learning.

For the past nine years, the Chronicle of Higher Education has honored TCU as “one of the great colleges to work for.” Recently, Insight Into Diversity magazine awarded TCU with a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award, indicating our commitment to developing and sustaining a diverse, inclusive, and equitable teaching and learning environment.

The Dean is the chief executive officer of the College of Education (CoE) and reports to the Provost of the University. The Dean is responsible for the administrative and academic functions of the CoE and serves as the leading advocate of the faculty, staff, students, and programs to the campus community and external constituencies. Successful candidates will have demonstrated leadership qualities, including the abilities to: attract and inspire distinguished faculty, talented staff, and outstanding students; support and grow research activities; direct diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives; cultivate and maintain relationships with the external community; and increase gifts, endowments, and other significant revenue sources.

TCU follows a teacher-scholar model. The CoE offers BS, BSE, MAT, MEd, PhD, and EdD degrees, as well as undergraduate and graduate certifications in a variety of areas. The college serves a vital role within the community and houses two laboratory schools, KinderFrogs and Starpoint. The TRIO programs, Student Support Services and McNair, expand this vibrant learning community, while the ANSERS institute for innovation in special education, Andrews Institute for Mathematics & Science Education, and Center for Public Education support faculty engaged in innovative research and community outreach. Since June 2012, the CoE has raised $12.6M in philanthropic support and additional grant funding garnered by faculty, staff, and students.
