Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Teresa Ann Carter King Dean of the College of Fine Arts. The University seeks a visionary leader who embodies the excellence of TCU’s College of Fine Arts and will advance the national and international stature of the College.

 

TCU is located in Fort Worth, Texas, the 13th largest city in the country (part of the diverse DFW metropolitan area of more than 6.8 million), and known for its world-class culture in the arts, education, and entertainment. The University has nearly 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and the College of Fine Arts has over 800 undergraduate and 80 graduate students in Master’s and Doctoral programs. The College is comprised of six outstanding academic units: the School of Art, the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance, the Department of Design, the Department of Fashion Merchandising, the School of Music, and the Department of Theatre. 

 

The Dean is the chief executive officer of the College and reports to the Provost of the University. The Dean serves as the principal advocate for the faculty, staff, students, programs and facilities to internal and external constituencies.  Successful candidates are committed to and experienced in fostering inclusive excellence across programs and possess strong leadership qualities including the ability to: attract and inspire distinguished faculty, talented staff and outstanding students; manage administrative and academic functions of the college; cultivate and maintain relationships with the external community; and increase gifts, endowment, and other significant revenue sources. The ideal candidate has a strong record in one of the six disciplines of the college and possesses a broad understanding of the many ways in which the arts function in education, culture, and society.
