Assistant Professor - Computer Science (emphasis Data Science)

Brief Summary of Work for this Position              

The Department of Computer Science at University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor to begin August 2020. Duties include teaching in the undergraduate and graduate computer science programs, maintaining an active research program, and directing undergraduate and graduate students.

Minimum Requirements             

Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related area required.

Preferred Qualifications              

Research with emphasis in Data Science or related areas is preferred. Additional consideration will be given to research focusing on data architecture, and familiarity with tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and Apache Pig.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit              

The Department of Computer Science offers a B.S. degree in computer science, an interdisciplinary B.S. degree in information technology, an interdisciplinary B.A. degree in digital arts, an M.S. degree in computer science and information systems and an interdisciplinary M.S. degree in data science. The Computer Science Department currently has nineteen full-time faculty members (http://uncw.edu/csc)
