• Assistant Professor of English with expertise in Digital Rhetoric and Multimodal Composition

Job Description

The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in writing and rhetoric studies to begin July 1, 2020. The desired areas of specialization include digital rhetoric, multi modal composition, and public theory.  The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 course load that includes both first-year writing courses and graduate courses. In addition, the candidate will actively contribute to an evolving undergraduate curriculum in public and professional writing as well as a graduate emphasis in public engagement.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or closely related discipline by July 1, 2020, demonstrate a record of effective teaching, and exhibit potential for substantial peer-reviewed publications commensurate with the expectations of a Research 1 university.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on specific projects with and between diverse communities and/or professional and public-facing organizations is preferred.  Preference will be given to candidates whose research intersects with two or more of these areas and to candidates whose research articulates a relationship between identity markers—race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, etc.—and digital platforms of various sorts.
