The Vice Chancellor for GME & Enterprise Wide DIO will play an integral role in the strategic planning for the future state of all GME programs across RBHS and RWJBH, with a goal of achieving an optimal GME educational, strategic, and financial structure. The Vice Chancellor will lead the strategic discussions and implement the development of world class education programs and training paradigms across the combined education mission of RBHS and RWJBH.

  • Chairs the RBHS GME Committee and helps oversee the ongoing transition for RBHS to become the Sponsoring Institution for all GME programs currently sponsored by New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM), and RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH) Hospitals.
  • Collaborates with other GME leaders across Rutgers and RWJBH in supervising and administering all ACGME-accredited programs and ensuring compliance with program requirements. He/she will execute these responsibilities in collaboration with RBHS GMEC and the Health Education Executive Council (HEEC).
  • Will serve concurrently as a member of the faculty in good standing of one of the constituent schools of RBHS with responsibility for scholarship, research, teaching, and patient care as appropriate.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, creativity and collegial engagement within a higher education setting. The leader also will possess extensive experience in health sciences education and an impressive record of interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research. Ideally, this individual also will have directed interprofessional education planning and participated in interprofessional teaching and clinical practice.

  • Successful candidates will have an earned M.D./D.O. (preferred) or equivalent terminal degree, Ph.D., or Ed.D., with prior experience in Graduate Medical Education, and preference for ten or more years of relevant experience in an administrative capacity.
  • Preference will be accorded to candidates with prior experience in GME administration and established insight into affiliated arrangements and accreditation processes.
  • Academic credentials and experience that qualify for appointment as an Associate Professor or higher, impeccable academic judgment, and an uncompromising commitment to academic excellence.
  • A demonstrated track record of achievement as an effective administrator, leader, and collaborator, providing strong evidence of a capacity to lead Graduate Medical Education, and a demonstrated ability to be effective within a complex university/health system environment is required.
  • Eligibility for a New Jersey State medical license is required for physicians, with a preference for an ability for clinical practice up to 10- 20%.
