UCLA is currently seeking an innovative leader for the position of Associate Dean, External Affairs to oversee the entire range of external activities related to the established priorities for the School of Law's legal research, teaching and service. Under the direction of the Dean of UCLA School of Law and the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Professional Schools Development, the Associate Dean will integrate and expand programs for principal gifts, major/planned gifts, special gifts, annual gifts and cultivation activities into a cohesive plan to achieve the school's principals and objectives. The Associate Dean will work directly with the Dean on a comprehensive program to secure private support from individuals, corporations and foundations.

A team leader, this individual will manage the School of Law's Communications, Alumni Affairs and Special Events programs, and play a critical role in managing complex advancement programs. We are searching for an individual skilled in personal solicitation techniques with a demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement broad-ranging and specific solicitation strategies. The Associate Dean will be a gifted communicator with a strong understanding of donor and alumni relations, and familiarity with issues relating to legal education and research. This position will be responsible for implementing and overseeing a strategic communications program designed to enhance the visibility and reputation of the UCLA School of Law. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the principles of fundraising with ten years of increasing responsibility within a major research institution, preferably in development.In addition, the Associate Dean will have strong analytical, strategic and organizational skills to develop and deliver creative, credible solutions, recommendations and programs as part of expanding the programmatic initiatives of the School and garnering philanthropic support.
