Research Track faculty position in the division of Endocrinology

The University of Iowa, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, is seeking an Assistant Professor in the Research Track in the field of Diabetes Complications.

Applicants are required to have a PhD degree. Applicants are also required to have expertise in the areas of Inflammation and ischemia, using both in vitro and in vivo methodologies.  Expertise in cell biological, immunological, and molecular biological techniques such as ELISA, flow cytometry, antibody-based protein analyses, PCR (end point and real-time quantitative PCR), immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy is highly desired.  Experience with whole animal studies involving genetic manipulations to generate transgenic and knockout mice, in vivo reporter assays, pharmacologic infusions and blood pressure measurement, glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance tests, immune cell depletion using monoclonal antibodies, and bone marrow transfer in animal models preferred. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellent communication skills and trajectory towards independent investigation exemplified by serving as corresponding author in prior published manuscripts and demonstrated success in prior grant applications. The successful applicant, in addition to contributing to team-science projects, will be expected to establish their own independent research program and also engage in teaching and mentoring a wide range of students and trainees. This position is not eligible for J-1 Sponsorship.
