The University of Tampa invites applications for the position of Department Chair of Computer Science. This is a highly unusual opportunity to create a new department and baccalaureate program in Computer Science and the new facilities that that it will utilize for teaching and scholarship. We are seeking a chair who sees herself/himself as a builder. The chair will lead the department in creating and gaining approval of a new ABET-accredited curriculum, hire new faculty, help to plan the construction of new facilities, and create an innovative vision for growth. The position is available now and the person selected may begin on or before July 2020, with the planned inaugural class enrolled in August 2021.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and have an exemplary record of achievement sufficient for a tenured appointment; rank is open. Previous academic leadership as a department chair is desirable, but not required. The position requires excellent communication skills, experience in establishing and nurturing industry partnerships, and a strong commitment to supporting a diverse student enrollment. The Chair must also have a demonstrated commitment to supporting active learning and real-world problem-solving.
