Central Michigan University (CMU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.

CMU is one of the nation’s 100 largest public universities and the fourth largest in Michigan, with more than 16,000 students on its Mt. Pleasant campus and another 4,900 enrolled online or at locations across North America. The CMU College of Education and Human Services (EHS) leads the way in educator preparation and human service programs, where students, faculty, and staff learn to challenge, lead, and inspire the world. Students explore diverse fields through cutting-edge technologies, numerous internships, and robust study abroad programs. The EHS mission is to inspire, develop, and advance professionals through evidence-based and applied learning opportunities across global contexts. The college is comprised of 6 diverse academic units: Departments of Counseling & Special Education, Educational Leadership, Human Development, and Family Studies, Fashion, Interior Design and Merchandising, Recreation, Parks & Leisure Services Administration, Teacher Education & Professional Development.

The Dean of the College Education and Human Services is the Chief Academic Officer responsible for all operations of the College, providing leadership for undergraduate and graduate education on-campus, off-campus and online. The successful candidate will hold academic credentials in a discipline and achievements appropriate for appointment as a tenured full professor within a department of the college. The dean will effectively manage the complex and diverse needs of the college’s departments, while continually challenging students, faculty and community partners to elevate the level of collaboration, communication and interdisciplinary work expected of CMU students, faculty and staff. In addition to advancing innovative, collaborative work, the dean, is also expected to advance diversity and inclusion, grow enrollment, invest and support research and scholarship, while strengthening the partnership of EHS within the community and amongst the other CMU Colleges.
