Hematology, Oncology Research Assistant Professor

The Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking a Research Assistant Professor.  We seek qualified applicants to lead basic and translational research projects towards improved understanding of the mechanisms of thrombo-inflammation in context of stroke evolution. This position will be responsible for generating new proposals for intramural and extramural research funding both as a PI and co-PI as well as contribute to ongoing funded research activities.  This is a non-tenure track position and the appointment length will coincide with available funding.  Salary is commensurate to experience.

A PhD or equivalent in a Biomedical Science field and a minimum of five years of postdoctoral training in basic and/or translational research is required.  The successful candidate must demonstrate expertise in various techniques including DNA/RNA/protein preparation and purification, real-time PCR, flow cytometry, intravital imaging, experimental models of arterial thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis, filament and embolic stroke models in small animals. Also required is experience in supervising laboratory and/or research personnel.  The candidate must also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by scientific publications and oral presentations to scientific community. First author publications and evidence of recurring independent funding is desirable. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
