The Ohio State University seeks an energetic and seasoned student affairs expert to serve as its next Vice President/Senior Vice President for Student Life (VP/SVPSL). Reporting to the president and serving a critical role on the President’s Cabinet, the VP/SVPSL will embody the university’s mission by promoting engagement, a sense of belonging, and a deeply felt, shared connection to community throughout Ohio State’s vibrantly diverse undergraduate, graduate, and professional student population.

The VP/SVPSL position demands both inspirational leadership and a thorough understanding of the best practices in student affairs. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, skills, and experience required to create a cohesive campus community; serve as a highly engaged and visible advocate for students; continue building robust and meaningful connections with faculty; provide leadership and guidance on crisis response campus-wide; and embrace Buckeye traditions.

The VP/SVPSL will be responsible for overseeing a robust student affairs operation with a budget of approximately $280 million and a staff of over 1,100 professional and 6,000 student employees. The successful candidate will work to shape and promote the vision of a fully integrated student experience. In addition, the VP/SVPSL will enhance the connections between the academic and non-academic dimensions of student life.

As a member of the President’s Cabinet, the VP/SVPSL will be expected to provide visionary and strategic leadership to the Office of Student Life; collaborate with colleagues throughout the university to achieve a fully integrated student experience; support a diverse student body and promote Ohio State’s access and affordability mission; develop and lead a robust management team; and provide management and oversight of a complex business enterprise.
