Washington State University (WSU), a distinguished and comprehensive public research institution with multiple campuses, seeks a strategic and thoughtful leader to serve as its Chair of Accounting in the Carson College of Business. Leading a department through a period of growth and development, this Chair will provide intellectual leadership on the profession, curriculum, and research direction of the future. 

Founded in 1890 in Pullman, WSU is Washington’s land-grant university with an overarching mission of improving the quality of life for all citizens—locally, nationally, and globally. WSU is committed to innovation and excellence in research and scholarship. It has an enrollment of over 29,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and approximately 6,500 faculty and staff at its five campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Everett), as well as its numerous other locations across the State of Washington and online through its Global Campus. The Carson College of Business (CCB) enrolls 2,100 undergraduate students and houses the US News and World Report 13th ranked online MBA in the country.

Accounting is a changing profession with increasing demands on the students when they graduate, not only in credit hours required for the CPA exam, but in technical skills required by industry. Students at WSU are well-prepared for post-collegiate careers through a curriculum that is reviewed regularly and support from a new Career Advisor whose focus is on student placement and industry relations.

Faculty research is an important mission not just to the College but to all of WSU. The faculty inspire discovery and spark creativity among civic-minded students through the curriculum, experiential learning opportunities, and the research they produce. The Accounting faculty, with an influx of new hires over the last few years, is poised to produce high quality scholarship with strong support from the Chair.

The Chair will harness this moment of growth and change to strengthen the student experience and support faculty in their scholarly aspirations. Through curriculum review, research support, and strengthened industry connections, the Department is poised to rise in prestige and better prepare students for success. This individual will ensure quality across all areas of responsibility and allocate resources to support the students and help the faculty achieve excellence.
