Vice President for Enrollment and Retention Management

Saint Louis University (SLU) invites applications and nominations for a new vice president of enrollment and retention management to provide visionary leadership for a comprehensive enrollment management strategy that is aggressive, innovative and data-informed.

Founded in 1818, SLU is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic universities. SLU is rated among the nation's top research universities and recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care and a strong commitment to faith and service. With campuses in St. Louis, Missouri and Madrid, Spain, the University enrolls nearly 13,000 students and provides a highly rigorous and deeply transformative education that helps students develop into bold, confident leaders. Guided by an enduring Jesuit mission, the University continues to move forward with an unwavering commitment to serve a higher purpose while always seeking the greater good.

The first institution of higher learning west of the Mississippi River, SLU is inspired by its pioneering roots while focusing firmly on a promising future. Since its founding, SLU and the City of St. Louis have been integrally connected. St. Louis is home to nine Fortune 500 companies and is a hotbed of innovation and entrepreneurship, with Popular Mechanics ranking St. Louis the No. 1 start-up city in America. Like other great American cities, St. Louis is a collection of unique neighborhoods, each with its own personality, and nearby Forest Park – bigger than New York's Central Park – offers the Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis Zoo, Missouri History Museum, and Saint Louis Science Center.

As the University's chief enrollment officer, the vice president of enrollment and retention management will embrace and extend the history and transformational character of this distinct institution. The vice president will report to the provost and serve on the president's cabinet, working in collaboration with the University's leadership team, deans and other campus partners to achieve SLU's enrollment and retention management goals. The vice president will provide leadership and support for a team of nearly 120 team members with direct oversight for undergraduate and graduate admission (domestic and international), student financial services, enrollment analytics, international services, INTO Saint Louis University, student educational services (pre-college, access, and TRiO programs), the registrar, and retention.

Capitalizing on the strong institutional commitment to supporting and participating in enrollment efforts, the vice president will be responsible for attracting, enrolling and helping to retain a highly accomplished, multi-faceted and diverse student body committed to the values and ideals of the University. The successful candidate will be a seasoned, talented, and highly analytic enrollment leader with high integrity, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to focus and lead an organization to set and achieve ambitious strategic outcomes. The vice president must demonstrate an understanding of, passion for, and ability to articulate the benefits of the Catholic, Jesuit tradition of education; an appreciation of diversity and a proven record advancing the diversity goals of an institution; and significant management, marketing, and leadership experience in enrollment management. A bachelor’s degree is required; candidates with an earned advanced or terminal degree will have an advantage.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Review of applications has begun and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates should provide, as two separate documents, a professional resume and a letter of application that addresses the responsibilities and requirements described in the leadership profile available at www.wittkieffer.com. These materials should be sent electronically via e-mail to the Saint Louis University's consultants Robin Mamlet, Amy Crutchfield, and Jessica Herrington at SLU-ERM@wittkieffer.com. The consultants can be reached by telephone through the desk of Leslie Donahue at 630-575-6178.
