Iona College

President

Iona College, a private, comprehensive Catholic college founded in 1940 by the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers will celebrate its 80th year in 2020. With a diverse and welcoming community, Iona invites applications and nominations for the position of College President.

The Ninth President of Iona College will join an institution on the rise: the launch of the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation; groundbreaking for the new LaPenta School of Business; development of new academic programs; growth of the endowment to nearly $150 million; and funding for newly endowed positions.

Located on a charming, nearly 45-acre campus approximately five miles north of New York City in suburban Westchester County, New York, Iona offers nearly 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students an intimate academic environment, dedicated faculty, and the experience of a Division I athletics program. Iona offers nearly 50 undergraduate programs, more than 30 minors, and over 40 graduate programs. Its enhanced academic standing is evident from the many national accreditations the College has earned in business, computer science, education, mass communication, school psychology (graduate), marriage and family therapy (graduate), chemistry, and social work, making Iona a highly accredited college.

Iona’s next President will possess a record of success in guiding a complex organization through implementing strategies that lead to progress and change, managing within financial constraints, working to promote the College’s mission, and simultaneously recognizing opportunities for growth and investment.  The next President should also be: innovative and entrepreneurial; forward-thinking, balanced by an appreciation for history and tradition; outgoing and engaging, with a keen intellect; creative and constructive; imaginative and innovative; and able to convey a sense of purpose, passion, and humility.

The desired candidate must have the ability to live the mission and embrace the traditions of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers, which embody opportunity, justice, and the liberating power of education.  Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate dignity and respect through generosity of spirit and be passionate and enthusiastic about educating future generations.
