Investigator/Senior Investigator for Equal Opportunity Office

The Equal Opportunity Office (EO) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus is seeking an experienced Investigator or Senior Investigator. This position is being posted at two levels for one full-time vacancy. The selected candidate’s experience will determine which level is filled.

 

Under general direction of the Executive Director of Equal Opportunity, the Investigator or Senior Investigator will effectively investigate alleged violations of campus non-discrimination policies, including discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation. Serve as a trusted campus resource on Title IX and other discrimination matters, lead trainings on civil rights law and associated campus procedures, and serve as a liaison to state and federal offices. The Senior Investigator will develop training materials.

 

Minimum Qualification:

  • Investigator:
    • Bachelor’s degree (Master preferred or J.D.) and three (3) years of related investigatory experience.
  • Senior Investigator:
    • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred or J.D.) and five (5) years of related investigatory experience.
    • The Senior Investigator will demonstrate skill and experience creating and delivering training on civil rights laws and university policies & practices to a diverse population. 
  • The Investigator or Senior Investigator will need knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws, including Title IX, ADA, Title VII, etc. 
  • Ability to work in a confidential environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems, use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
  • Excellent presentation skills and mediation skills.
